The £162m A585 road upgrades that promise to remove major bottleneck
Millions of pounds are to be spent on upgrading the A585, promising to improve major bottlenecks that have occurred in recent months.
Those responsible for the works, National Highways, have said that they are constantly reviewing data available to them, particularly involving the Windy Harbour to Skippool stretch. Adjustments have been made to solve any problems that have cropped up, which have solved some of the big tailbacks in the area.In a full statement, National Highways senior project manager Tom Peckitt said: “We are constantly reviewing the traffic data on the Windy Harbour to Skippool scheme.
The £162 million scheme has made significant progress since the start of construction in 2020. Work includes the construction of a new bridge over Main Dyke, a new underpass at Lodge Lane, and the installation of a new footbridge in Singleton. The utility network and the drainage systems have also been upgraded.Signs are visible on approach to the roundabout. The signs are in place to prompt drivers to ensure they are in the correct lane.
